Mining finance · Mississauga, Ontario

Hi, I’m Chris.

A mining-finance guy from just outside Toronto. I help teams raise the money it takes to turn rock into something real. On the side, I tinker with software.

A little about me.

I’ve spent about twenty years in and around mining finance, and somewhere along the way I became a CPA. For six of those years I actually lived at the mine sites (Chile, Guyana, Ecuador), which is also where I learned my Spanish, mostly by getting it wrong out loud until it came out right.

What I care most about is the understanding side of the work, making it my own business to know an operation deeply enough that I can help the investors and owners behind it understand what they actually own. Most days that means moving between the two halves of the job: hands-on inside the business, operationally and technically, and across the table from tier-1 banks and capital markets. The teams I get to do it with are spread across the world. That’s the best part of the job most days, and the hardest part on the rest.

When I’m not working I’m usually with my family, or poking at a side project that probably won’t go anywhere. (Occasionally one does.)

What we’ve gotten done.

The numbers below took whole teams: engineers, lawyers, partners, crews on the ground. I just happened to be the one holding the spreadsheet. Here’s the work I’m proud to have been part of.

~$1BRaised over the years (debt, equity, streams) across five companies.
3Exits: Guyana Goldfields (Zijin), Rockcliff (Hudbay), and Solgold (Jiangxi Copper).
6+Years lived at South American mine sites. The Spanish came with it.
$250MWhat it took to build the Aurora mine in Guyana. On time, under budget, great crew.

Where I’ve worked.

2024 – now

Independent Director · Rocky Shore Gold

Toronto

I chair the remuneration committee and sit on audit. Mostly there to ask the boring questions early.

2023 – 2026

Group CFO · Solgold

Toronto / Ecuador · acquired by Jiangxi Copper

We raised over $100M of working capital, and another $650M of construction capital committed by Franco Nevada at pre-feasibility stage. The day-to-day was rebuilding corporate finance from the controls up, close to the technical teams and in front of investors, right through to the Jiangxi Copper deal in May 2026.

2022 – 2023

VP, Finance · Generation Mining

Toronto

Helped the team with technical studies, the EPCM tender, and a $1B project financing.

2019 – 2022

CFO & Corp. Secretary · Rockcliff Metals

Sudbury · acquired by Hudbay

A true startup. We built governance, compliance and controls from scratch, and sold non-core ground to Kinross along the way.

2012 – 2019

VP Finance → Interim CFO · Guyana Goldfields

Toronto · acquired by Zijin

Grew into the CFO seat at a TSX gold producer. Refinanced an $80M facility, managed a $160M syndicate, and helped deliver the $250M Aurora mine. Got to ride the same project all the way through: feasibility, project finance, construction, and into operations.

2006 – 2011

Audit Senior → Manager · PwC

Toronto → Chile

Started in the Toronto firm and transferred to the Chilean firm in 2009. Global mining clients throughout, and where my South American chapter started, with the Spanish picked up on the ground.

On the side, I build.

I’m not an AI company and I’m not trying to become one. I’m a hobbyist who got curious about what these tools could do for the finance work I already know. A few experiments grew legs. Here’s one of them, running live.

MineFin

How I keep tabs on junior-mining financings as they get announced. It pulls the structured data out of the press releases so I don’t have to.

DeepTech

grew most

Something I built so I can get through NI 43-101 technical reports faster and pull out the parts that actually matter to me.

Global Financials

early

Structured financials out of filings, for when I need numbers I can actually compare across companies. Might fold into DeepTech eventually.

Battle City

for fun

A browser remake of a game I loved as a kid. Not mining, not AI. Just fun.

Say hello

Let’s talk.

Mining, finance, half-built side projects, or you just want to compare notes. I’d genuinely like to hear from you.
